Brubaker Farms

Pictured is a new dairy farm in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. Sollenberger Silos was contracted to provide feed storage for this farm. The silos were built with our standard 6" thick wall, and cast-in-place concrete chute. As always, all the steel hardware was hot-dipped galvanized for years of maintenance-free service. The 20 foot silo can hold approximately 900 tons of feed and the 24 foot holds up to 1,500 tons. Each silo is equipped with a ring drive Valmetal™ unloader. This farm also has a completely automated feeding system.

Largest Silo in USA

Currently the largest farm silo in the country!

This silo is equipped with an elevated floor with 12’ clearance so feed trucks can drive through and be quickly loaded. The silo is equipped with the Big Jim Quantum unloader, making the system capable of loading 50-plus tons per hour, and unloading 800 to 1200 pounds per minute. The silo has over 94,000 cubic feet of storage capacity, and should hold over 4,000 tons of corn silage. The total capacity will depend upon moisture content, length of cut, filling rate, grain content of the silage and crop growing conditions.

Pictured above is a silo that Sollenberger Silo built in Lebanon County, PA. Because of the limited space available, a cast-in-place concrete silo was chosen. This enabled them to store approximately 1600 tons of feed on a foot print of only 24 feet. This silo is equipped with a Big Jim™ style central unloader. This greatly reduces the amount of climbing needed when unloading the silo. This silo was built using our standard six" thick wall, with 4,000 psi concrete. Silo doors are built with cedar, and all hardware is hot-dip galvanized for years of maintenance free service.

Meadow Lane Dairy

When expanding their dairy herd, Meadow Lane needed additional feed storage. After looking into other options including ag bags and a bunker silo, they chose a poured-in-place concrete silo. Due to the silos' small footprint, the township did not require a storm water runoff retention pond, making silos a very economical solution. Each silo has a storage capacity of approximately 3,000 tons. The low feed loss and long service life of a poured concrete silo has provided them with a cost effective storage solution.
